Under the theme ‘Creative destruction: Design innovation in the face of existential threats’, the European Healthcare Design 2021 Congress will gather healthcare design experts from around the world and deep dive into the world of healthcare design, focusing on the three pillars; research, policy and practice.
White Arkitekter will be heavily represented at the congress and take part in various presentations throughout the week:
15 June 10.15 BST, Paula Block Philipsen, Partner and Architect, White Arkitekter will participate in a session on healing architecture and art programming in health institutions. Alongside Nils Magnus Sköld and Isabel Sanchez Games (Regionfastigheter, Region Skåne) she will present a cross-sectoral perspective of the art programme at the New Hospital of Malmö, Sweden.
16 June 11.00 BST, Cristiana Caira, Partner and Architect, White Arkitekter will participate in a session on learning the lessons across the care continuum. Alongside Jonathan Erskine (European Health Property Network), she’ll speak on the subject ‘Relocate, repurpose and reorganise: the hospital response to the pandemic challenge’.
17 June 10.45 BST, Cristiana Caira, will be part of the panel discussion and workshop ‘Arts and health: creative partnerships to build better healing environments’, focusing on the role of creative partnerships to build better healing environments for the future. Numerous international case studies will be presented, and Cristiana, alongside Eleonora Fors Szuba (Västfastigheter) will speak about the integrated art works in Södra Älvsborg Hospital Psychiatric Clinic and Queen Silvia Children’s Hospital.
17 June 16:45 BST, Charlotte Ruben, Partner and Architect, White Arkitekter will be part of the jury for the Art and Interior Design category of the EHD2021 Awards.
The culmination of an exciting few days will be the European Healthcare Design 2021 Awards Ceremony on 17 June, where the best projects in healthcare design from the recent year will be prized. Our project Södra Älvsborg Hospital Psychiatric Clinic is one of four shortlisted projects for the Mental Health Design award.
