Reach climate goals, secure energy supply and increase the value of your properties with building-integrated photovoltaics.

With our broad expertise in architecture and energy and our unique experience in working with photovoltaics, we can lead the process of creating attractive and sustainable buildings with low operating costs.

The construction and real estate sector is facing major challenges – we are living in the midst of climate change and an ongoing energy crisis. We need to adapt building design and construction to meet climate targets and to contribute to sustainable development. Sustainable energy use is an important part of this. With building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPVs) we can create self-sufficient buildings that have a lower climate impact and provide more energy than they take.

BIPVs can also contribute to a unique and aesthetically pleasing design, higher property value and lower operating costs.

Building-integrated photovoltaics

Securing renewable energy supplies is an incredibly important step in reducing our negative impact on the climate – something that is more relevant than ever in the current energy crisis.

The built environment takes a lot of energy – but has the potential to give just as much back. It’s about making buildings, neighbourhoods and ultimately entire cities energy-positive and self-sufficient.

Integrating photovoltaics into the facades and roofs of buildings is an efficient and aesthetically pleasing way to secure a building’s energy supply. In addition to a stable energy supply, building-integrated photovoltaics provide numerous other benefits that help you achieve sustainability goals and increase the value of your property.

Selected projects

House of Choice, Solna

One of the most high-profile projects with building-integrated photovoltaics is the House of Choice in Solna. The building is Scandinavia’s most energy-efficient hotel building and is clad with a total of 2,500 square metres of photovoltaics. With these, the building can produce more kilowatt hours than it uses in a year – a so-called plus-energy hotel.

Magasin X, Uppsala

Magasin X in central Uppsala is Sweden’s largest wooden office building and the location of our Uppsala office. With sky-high sustainability goals, the building’s environmental profile runs through everything from innovative technical systems for energy supply and careful material choices, to climate-friendly commuting options. The exterior of Magasin X is clad in glass, slate and integrated photovoltaics.

Climate Innovation District, Leeds

By increasing the energy and resource efficiency of urban developments, infrastructure and transportation systems, we can design a powerful response to climate change. Leeds is a case in point. The city’s Climate Innovation District turns a central brownfield site into a resilient, green, mixed-use neighbourhood of 516 low energy homes with integrated amenities for everyday life.

Our offer

Integrate photovoltaics into your project – for new buildings or renovation of heritage buildings.

  • Early stage feasibility study: We review the needs and prerequisites for integrating photovolatics into your project.
  • Design program: We develop a design program for integrated photovoltaics with proposals for location, quantity and typ of photovoltaics. In this step, you get a clear picture of how much energy the photovoltaics can generate, as well as a cost estimate and payback calculation. The design programme can also be used as a basis for a zoning plan, building permit and/or licence.
  • Process management: we manage the entire project and process to ensure aesthetics, architectural quality and optimal energy generation.
