The two new buildings accommodate patient rooms, operating theatres and a fully automated, state-of-the-art sterilisation centre. The design is informed by the latest research on the impact of spatial environments on patient wellbeing and has been developed through an evidence-based approach in close collaboration with hospital staff. To support the ongoing development of healthcare, the layout of rooms and departments allows for future adaptations while ensuring efficient care flows over time.
Inside, the buildings are characterised by the use of timber, calm and restorative environments, and generous views across the city, the park and surrounding landscape. The hospital’s green setting – with around 80 tree species and more than 700 trees – has been a key starting point for the design. This connection to nature is further reinforced through façades featuring both vertical and horizontal greenery.
