Light gives life to architecture, and to make full use of its potential, daylight and electric light need to interact with the built environment and be an integral part of it. Driving the transition to a sustainable life by the power of light

To us, sustainable lighting design is all about creating environments in which people can meet and enjoy wellbeing and a sense of security, all within our available resources. We do this with both natural and artificial lighting, but also when we work with darkness. By analysing, planning and designing the city based on the specific conditions of darkness and the inherent qualities of the night-time, we contribute to creating safe and inclusive cities that value their natural and cultural heritage and reduce negative climate impact.

As lighting designers, architects and sustainability specialists with a wealth of practical and research experience, we contribute to driving development. We have developed in-house, customised tools adapted to the various stages of the design process, so that we can make informed decisions in an efficient workflow.

Urban environments and landscapes

Based on the qualities of the night, we develop the city during the dark hours. We analyse, plan and design lighting environments with a view to how urban and landscape spaces are used and experienced in the absence of daylight. We strive to create balanced lighting environments that both enhance safety and reduce light pollution. To capitalise on knowledge and creativity, we invite an inclusive process in which light helps to strengthen people’s community with place and each other.

Architecture and interior design

Ever-changing light brings architecture to life. The light environment affects how we feel and experience the rooms we live in, in our homes, workplaces, schools and hospitals, and in the places we choose to spend our spare time. By designing the interaction between daylight and electric light linked to the expression and function of the architecture at different times of the day, we want to create inspiring and healthy spaces, while minimizing energy use.

Product design

Our own design history stretches back to 1988, since when we have brought a wide range of products to life, some of which are now design classics. These days we design luminaires for a number of leading manufacturers, as well as project-adapted luminaires to order. Our design process is all about asking the right questions and applying the right methods to achieve set goals in the best possible manner.
