Both projects exemplify how we design healthcare environments with people at the centre – settings informed by the latest research on how spatial qualities supports patient recovery and staff wellbeing.
We’re honoured that two of our projects have been shortlisted for the prestigious Vårdbyggnadspriset 2025 (Swedish Healthcare Building Award). The Skåne University Hospital Campus – Healthcare buildings is one of three finalists in the category “Spaces for Inpatient Care”. Meanwhile, in “Spaces for Outpatient Care and Social Services”, the Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine Outpatient Clinic (BUM) in Malmö is among the finalists.

The Skåne University Hospital Campus – Healthcare Buildings.
Skåne University Hospital Campus – Healthcare buildings is one of Sweden’s largest hospital projects, completed in 2025 after a decade of development. The new buildings are designed to create a welcoming experience at street level while forming a distinctive landmark from afar. The vision of a hospital integrated into the urban fabric has been realised through new pedestrian routes and public ground-floor spaces that contribute to a lively cityscape. An inclusive design approach – aiming to create a calm and restorative environment – has been a guiding principle throughout.
We’re genuinely proud and grateful for the warm reception the new buildings have received from both staff and patients. Being nominated for Vårdbyggnadspriset is yet another recognition that we’ve succeeded in creating healthcare environments of a quality that truly stands out.
The Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine Outpatient Clinic (BUM) is a refurbishment project that has undergone a significant transformation – creating better conditions for staff to carry out their vital work and a soothing atmosphere for patients. The design is based on a thorough analysis of the existing structure and operational needs, distilled into a clear concept that guided the project through to completion. Artworks by Coco Moodysson play an important role in enriching the new setting.
The BUM Outpatient Clinic.
It's a great honour to be nominated for Vårdbyggnadspriset. The Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine Outpatient Clinic is a fine example of how architecture can make the most of existing conditions – renovating and designing with care to create truly healing spaces.
White Arkitekter also prepared the concept and planning documents for Mora Hospital, which is shortlisted in the category “Spaces for Outpatient Care and Social Services”.
Vårdbyggnadspriset celebrates outstanding healthcare facilities – both new constructions and refurbishments – across two categories: “Spaces for Inpatient Care” and “Spaces for Outpatient Care and Social Services”. The jury evaluates each entry based on design, functionality, sustainability, and innovation. The winners will be announced at Forum Vårdbyggnad in Eskilstuna on 13 November.
