White Arkitekter is in the running for two awards at the prestigious Swedish SGB Awards

White Arkitekter’s Director of Sustainability, Anna Graaf, has been shortlisted as a finalist for the “Sustainability Leader of the Year” award at the Sweden Green Building Awards. Additionally, White’s project, Lindesberg Health Centre, is a finalist in the “Environmental Building of the Year” category. The Sweden Green Building Council presents these awards to individuals and projects that lead the way and inspire in the field of sustainability.

For over two decades, Anna Graaf has been driving sustainability efforts at White Arkitekter and advancing the industry as a whole through tangible projects and cross-sector initiatives. Her work has notably championed the transition toward circular architecture, climate neutrality, and regenerative design. This approach promotes architecture that not only reduces environmental impact but actively contributes to restoring natural ecosystems, allowing natural cycles and ecological values to be regenerated and natural resources to be reused continuously. Since 2022, she has also served as a member of the Swedish government’s Delegation for Circular Economy, where she is the first representative from the construction and real estate sector.

It’s an honour to be recognised in this way. For many years, I’ve pushed for a sustainable transformation in the industry, particularly in the areas of climate and circularity. Many of us contribute daily to making a real difference. My role in the Swedish Delegation for Circular Economy has given me even more opportunities to highlight the real estate and construction sector’s enormous potential, challenges, and inspiring examples, both to the government and the industry as a whole.

Lindesbergs Health Centre consists of two buildings that are linked together by a shared glass gallery.

Lindesberg Health Centre, where White Arkitekter served as architect, landscape architect, and environmental certification coordinator, is a finalist in the “Environmental Building of the Year” category. Throughout the project, we focused on energy use, indoor climate, and material selection from initial planning to production, ensuring a building that benefits staff, patients, and the environment. We also carried out energy and daylight simulations at various stages of the project.

It’s an honour for our project to be nominated, confirming that our work is truly making a difference. The complexity of the healthcare building, combined with the three-dimensional property formation, made this project challenging. However, through great collaboration and our involvement throughout the process, we’ve achieved excellent results.

The winners will be announced at the SGBC gala on November 28.
