Urban planning concept
An avenue accompanies the entrance to the clinic grounds and acts as a visual separation between the commercial area and the health campus. The buildings of the clinic, the psychiatric clinic, the supply and disposal centre and, in the southern area, the medical centre are grouped around a generously dimensioned, central clinic plaza, which is located at the intersection between the urban avenue as the main access axis and the green axis along the watercourse. The plaza enables clear address formations and offers a high quality of stay at the transition from landscape space to urban space.
The height of the clinic is staggered to the south between the two-storey base and the nursing pavilions to ensure an appropriate scale to the plaza and in relation to the adjacent psychiatric ward to the south. The psychiatric ward is deliberately set back into the park to create a protected environment for patients and to generate healing views for patients. At the same time, it remains functionally connected to the hospital through paths and visual connections.
The new hospital site is generally accessed via the southern main access road. By separating the entire site into the western logistics and parking garage area and the eastern hospital area in the park, the traffic flows are unbundled. Delivery and waste disposal traffic, mainly to the service building, will enter and leave the western area of the site through the industrial estate.
Open space planning concept
The landscape design is based on the characteristics of the existing natural environment. The central plaza forms the heart of the clinic site and provides clear orientation. The park creates green connections with a quality of stay and offers recreational opportunities for patients and visitors. The psychiatry and care areas have sheltered terraces as places of retreat. Green roof areas support the microclimate and offer recreational opportunities for staff and patients.
