Lumi stands as one of Sweden’s most ambitious reuse projects – a large-scale testbed for circular architecture. In this unique project, the concrete frame of a 1970s building has been extended and re-clad, while nearly everything practically possible has been reused – from plasterboards, bricks and doors to radiators and electrical boxes. The result is a contemporary laboratory and office building with exceptionally low climate impact.
The project is certified under LEED v4 BD+C Core and Shell, where the threshold for the highest level, Platinum, is 80 points. With 99 out of 110, Lumi is not only the highest-scoring project in Europe but also the world’s highest-rated office building.
