The Söderhov proposal is a part of the City of Stockholm’s strategy for connecting the inner suburbs with the city. Adjacent to Globen and Tele2 arenas, the site is one of the most important pieces of the urban puzzle and will include workplaces, housing and a new range of smaller scenes for music and sports. It will include up to 1,000 new homes and 30,000 new square meters of office space. The ground floor of the residential district is filled with shops, cafes and restaurants. Söderhov also includes plans for a brand new sports hall and a new cultural centre.
White Arkitekter wins competition for new Stockholm district
White Arkitekter and Kjellander Sjöberg wins City of Stockholm’s architectural competition for an attractive and environmentally friendly neighborhood.
"The basic idea of our proposal has been to build on what is available, but on a different scale. To create an attractive area, there is a need for a more even flow of people to the site, not just when there are big events. While Beyoncé fills the Tele2 arena, you can go and see a local band playing in the Arcades."

Two ice rinks located below ground will remain, while a two-storey lattice truss will be built to carry the weight of the residential buildings built on top. The unique space created within will house public meeting places, such as; a food hall, a smaller music venue and a restaurant.
The aim of the proposal was to combine global thinking with a local perspective; creating spaces and premises with multiple uses to reflect the lives and needs of Stockholmers today. Due to the large urban area earmarked for development, the architects have designed fine mesh of streets for pedestrians and cyclists.
Stockholm is getting a new neighbourhood filled with life; 24 hours of the day, all year round. It is fantastic that we can continue to add value in the ongoing development of Stockholm; this time with a dynamic district that connects with Södra Skanstull and the city.
