Gothia Towers in Gothenburg

Gothia Towers in Gothenburg

Through its work on Gothia Towers, White, together with Svenska Mässan, has created a unique opportunity for meetings and encounters in the heart of the city. With 1,200 rooms, Gothia Towers in Gothenburg is one of Europe’s largest fully integrated hotel, exhibition and conference facilities.

The complex comprises three towers of 23, 26 and 29 storeys respectively, plus technical floors. At ground level, an internal activity spine, Mässans gata, runs from Gårda shopping centre to the main entrance of Svenska Mässan at Korsvägen.

Centrally positioned along this route is the hotel’s principal entrance, facing Scandinavia’s largest amusement park, Liseberg. On the 20th floor, guests can take a vertiginous walk between the three towers – West Tower, Crown Tower and East Tower – via glazed bridges.

The first tower was completed in 1984, the second in 2001, and the third in 2015. In 2013, a six-storey vertical extension to Crown Tower introduced a new five-star component – Upper House. This upper section of the tower accommodates luxury suites, a gourmet restaurant and a spa. In total, the hotel complex contains seven restaurants as well as several banqueting and event floors.

Extensions and new construction were carried out while the hotel remained fully operational. This placed considerable demands on planning and execution in order to minimise disruption to the hotel’s daily activities. The architectural expression of the three towers is consistent, with glazed façades and triangular floor plates. Their powerful silhouette forms a distinctive link between Svenska Mässan’s exhibition halls and the vibrant city centre beyond.

Gothia Towers occupies a prime central location in Gothenburg, with excellent public transport connections just a few blocks from the city’s main boulevard, Avenyn. Guests can travel to and from the hotel by tram and bus via the Korsvägen interchange. Those who check in are rewarded with sweeping views across the city. Immediate neighbours include the Liseberg amusement park, Scandinavium and the other venues and arenas that define the city’s events district. The Museum of World Culture and Universeum are also located nearby.
