Modern wood construction provides a unique opportunity to create sustainable and beautiful buildings. Wood is a sustainable material that helps to improve the indoor climate, enhances wellbeing and results in cost reductions and effectiveness during construction.
Ambitous goals throughout the project, which include the design of the building as well as its surroundings, and proximity to a public transport hub, Magasin X has what it takes to become a sustainable addition to Uppsala in the long term.
The project covers 13,000 sqm and is LEED Platinum certified, which calls for extremely effective energy systems and innovative solutions. The goal was to create a building with the smallest possible climate impact. As the actual construction process accounts for a very large portion of a project’s climate impact, the building’s resource efficiency, longevity and adaptability to new uses over time were factored in. As such, Magasin X is designed with robust materials, many floors and a rational internal layout that can meet the tenants’ demands today and tomorrow.
