Stockholm Wood City wins Sweden’s Fastighetsgalan Award

Stockholm Wood City has been named the winner of the Fastighetsgalan Award 2024, standing out among four nominated projects. This national award recognises a development that has made – or is set to make – an extraordinary impact on the Swedish real estate market.

In a pioneering initiative, Atrium Ljungberg has launched Stockholm Wood City – the world’s largest urban development project built entirely in wood. Located in Sickla, this ambitious endeavour is set to become an international showcase for sustainable construction and a model for how we can create more resilient, climate-smart cities for the future.

Stockholm Wood City highlights the pivotal role of architecture in shaping sustainable communities. We hope it will inspire more people to take a long-term, responsible approach as we address the challenges of a changing climate.
Oskar Norelius, Lead Architect, White Arkitekter

“We are honoured by this recognition and grateful for the trust placed in us to help shape such a groundbreaking and forward-thinking urban district,” continues Oskar Norelius.

Spanning 250,000 square metres, Stockholm Wood City will accommodate approximately 7,000 workplaces and 2,000 homes. Designed with a strong sustainability focus, the district’s timber buildings will not only reduce climate impact but also create a healthier, more inviting environment for those who live and work here. The first phase of Stockholm Wood City is already under construction and is expected to be completed by 2026.

Located in a sheltered, car-free setting on the heights of Nobelberget in Sickla, Kvarter 7 marks the starting point of the renowned Stockholm Wood City.

The construction of Stockholm Wood City in Sickla has begun, with Kvarter (Residential Block) 7 at Nobelberget leading the way. Designed by White Arkitekter for Atrium Ljungberg, the driving force behind the project, this block consists of three multi-family residential buildings featuring solid timber frames and wooden façades. The buildings will house 80 apartments, encompassing a total gross floor area of approximately 8,900 square meters.
