Skellefteå Culture Centre by White Arkitekter finalist in MIPIM Awards 2018

The new cultural centre in Swedish town Skellefteå has been shortlisted in the Best Futura Project in the prestigious MIPIM Awards.

MIPIM Awards celebrate the most outstanding and accomplished projects – completed or yet to be built – around the world. Dedicated to any type of building and development already in progress or scheduled to begin construction soon, the Best Futura Project category ‘gives us a preview into what the future may hold through distinct architectural, technical and environmental qualities’.

Skellefteå Cultural Centre combines the region’s timber heritage with the latest advancements in engineered timber technologies. It is a model for sustainable design and construction that celebrates the spectacle of cultural production in all its forms.

We are incredibly honored to be selected from such a strong set of contenders. It's great that Skellefteå's huge initiative is getting considerable attention before it's even built.

The winning project will be chosen based on the combined scores from a jury statement (50%) and a public vote (50%) open to all delegates at the annual MIPIM real estate event held March 13-16 in Cannes, France and is announced on March 15.
